I decide to discuss about this topic today, before i go out for my lunch in town. I think it is a quite interesting topic that everyone should take note of.
Topic : To compete or not to compete ?
This refer to anything that we do in life whether in working life, business life, or love life. For example in business life, where people copy each other idea, even to the extreme of copying the same or similar products and sell at cheaper price. It is like head to head competition. It not only frustrate the creator, but also confuse the marketplace with so many variety of genuine and imitation products.
Is it healthy and long sustainability if one choose to compete with other by copying their methods ?
Major problems in competition world.
Some people choose to react on the environment level, where when something is hot or new, everyone rush to do the same. Remember those days where “taiwanese bubble tea” was new and hot ? Every corner in Singapore, we can easily see many bubble tea sellers and they had price war. However, after 1 year later, we can really see how people survive ? perhaps 2-3 brand names only. How about the rest ? most likely some gained quick profits while some lost money. and the problem is that they blamed the other people.
Those who won the war, are those who are full of resources and really do the business properly rather than about money.
Same thing in internet marketing world, some people copy each other idea, by copying website contents and enter the same competition head to head and try to get the piece of cake (so called make money). While they forget one thing, the creator could be someone who is swim coach and passionate about swimming and teaching others thus he/she created website for his business.
While others (copy cats) entered to the same competition by building websites to compete in swimming business and becoming match making business (match making students and swimming coach) and become middle person. The problem is here, the copy cats might not survive long, as they do it only for money, and not with passion. thus why sustainability is not there. A lot of them have built up websites that simply “dirtying” the world wide web.
Should We Worried about Competitors ?
Look at your strength and passion before competing with people ! if you are good in make up artist, while others want to copy your model while they are not good in make up artist, then they are not your real competitors as they are entering the battle with “$$$” as their main goal. Keep on doing what you are passionate about, it is beyond about making $$$$, but it is about going with your “god’s given skill” and helping / serving others to be better.
How to Grow about business to be better
Play with your strength, dont focus on your weakness so much. Dont worry about the competitors who are not genuine in their core skill.
I believe your passion, and your intentions will make your business bigger and help more people.
